In 1998, Community Hospitalists started the first non-academic
hospitalist practice in the greater Cleveland, Ohio
area. Like most others who ventured into this arena
early on, we thought we knew exactly what we were doing.
How different could this practice be? We have owned
and managed medical practices for the past ten years.
What we learned early on is that this sub-specialty
of internal medicine is very different, and it takes
very unique physician qualities to make it successful.
